Here are some donations that folks left - I can't vouch but there are a bunch of new books in the middle grade level section! The kids' shelf today! I'm a big fan of Black is a Rainbow Color - especially because of the symbolism of the illustrations explained in the back. Good for kids and adults. And Baby Feminists is a lift the flap board book that is just ready for your baby to chew on and destroy! It's not pre-chewed! Todays rec is On The Come Up, a must read for adults and teens. It's by Angie Thomas, the author of The Hate U Give, and it's just as wonderful. Main shelf is looking packed as always! My awesome boss today told me I curate my library more than anyone she knows, and I'm taking that as a compliment since I'm committed to putting really great books in there (by racially diverse authors). Come get I'm Still Here by Austin Channing before anyone else does - it's been checked out and brought back twice already! It's a memoir by a Black woman who was named "Austin" by her parents so folks would think she was a white man before they met her. Okay, Maud (or me) is getting desperate. WON'T SOMEONE BELIEVE ME THAT THIS BOOK IS PHENOMENAL? Maybe I will print the NYT top 50 rec and tape it to it. Don't put it past me. Just a bonus thing that I saw on instagram and now will probably make into a shirt. And one more EVEN BETTER BONUS is Ox watching our wonderful President Obama give his DNC speech. What a call for Democracy.
